Three young parishioners of Holy Family Parish have been working hard over the past few months training to become altar servers. On Sunday, December 21, they were installed to serve at our Holy Altar. Let us pray that they remain worthy of the trust placed in them and through their example and service bring others closer to God.

Our new servers are: Aniyah Booth, Madison Catanzariti and Ava Garvey.

John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." (Luke 3:16)

Coming in 2015: Question of the Week

The start of the new year 2015 will bring with it the start of a new tradition for the parishes in our collaborative - the "Question of the Week". At each Mass on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings, the "Question of the Week" will be announced. It will also appear in the weekly bulletin. The "Question of the Week" will most often be based on the Sunday scripture readings, but may also be based on the writings of the Pope or the Cardinal or from some other church letter or instruction.
The "Question of the Week" is intended to be used in several ways:
* for personal reflection and prayer
* for conversation in your homes
* for discussion among various groups who meet at the parish (including, but not limited to staff, Pastoral Council, Finance Councils, religious education classes, etc.)

Pastoral Council News 12.7.14

15 members of the one Pastoral Council for the parishes in our collaborative met on Sunday, December 7, 6:00-7:30 p.m., at the Star of the Sea Parish Beach Rectory.
During the meeting, Dianne Mills volunteered to be the Vice-Chairperson and Terry Beecroft volunteered to be the secretary of the Pastoral Council.
Most of the meeting was spent discussing Stage 5 training for Disciples in Mission. This training is offered for the one staff serving the parishes in our collaborative as well as those who will serve on the pastoral plan writing team. Another significant component of Stage 5 is the Disciple Maker Index, a survey parishioners will be asked to take during February 17-March 10. The survey will provide us with information that will be helpful to us in writing the local pastoral plan. The survey will be publicized in January and early February.
The meeting also included a brief review of Advent and Christmas activities and an initial conversation about Lent 2015.
The next Pastoral Council activity is Evangelization Training on Saturday, January 31, at Saint Michael Parish in North Andover.
