Lexi LeBlanc shows off new wagon. |
Everyone deserves a place at the table, especially their own!
That’s why a year ago, Father Lou declared the 1st Sunday of every month
throughout the Liturgical Year of 2013 as FOOD DRIVE SUNDAY, marking the Year
of Faith as a year of putting Catholicism into action at Holy Family. In celebration of the Anniversary, a new wagon was gifted the parish to facilitate collecting and moving groceries for ONT.
The generosity of the Parish has made its ministry to the
community’s hungry, a monthly realization of living the Gospel. By gathering food
for distribution through Our Neighbors Table’s food pantry, Christ’s
commandment to “love thy neighbor” is fulfilled with each and every can,
package or box brought to the back of the church before Mass on the first
weekend of each month.
Since 1992, Our
Neighbors’ Table has provided hot meals and groceries to our neighbors in need,
distributing more than 1 MILLION MEALS in the last 4 years alone. What started
as a gesture of goodwill for a few has now become a lifeline for many. And so, Father Lou has asked that Holy Family’s Food
Drive Ministry continue its monthly collection of food essentials during 2014
to support the poor served by Our Neighbors’ Table and through ONT, the Society
of Saint Vincent de Paul’s emergency food delivery outreach.
