Kat and Kelsey, after years of service as HFP Altar Servers, soon to go off to college. Thank you: K & K!

Altar Servers Prayer: Loving Father, Creator of the universe, You call Your people to worship, to be with You and each other at Mass. Help me, for You have called me also. Keep me prayerful and alert. Help me to help others in prayer. Thank you for the trust You've placed in me. Keep me true to that trust. I make my prayer in Jesus' name, who is with us in the Holy Spirit. Amen.

HFP/SoS Pastor Designee, Father Scott, and New Ministry Dog Lazer graduate NEADS

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley was the guest speaker at the Spring 2014 NEADS (National Education for Assistance Dog Services) graduation ceremony. Coakley has for the last several years hosted NEADS puppies in training in her office as part of the NEADS Dogs at Your Desk Program; she, as well, is a strong vocal supporter of the NEADS Pawsitively Strong Fund.

Graduating was Holy Family/Star of the Sea Pastor-designee, Father Scott Euvrard, and his ministry dog Lazer, along with some twenty incredible adults and children with disabilities including Boston Marathon survivor, Jessica Kensky

NEADS (also known as Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans), is a non-profit organization that was established in 1976. NEADS assistance dogs become an extension of their handlers and bring freedom, physical autonomy and relief from social isolation to their human partners.

In addition to providing assistance dogs directly for people with a disability, NEADS also trains service dogs for partnership with teachers, therapists and those who perform religious ministry. Ministry dogs are placed with a minister, chaplain, or religious representative in a church or religious setting. The dog accompanies the minister in his or her duties, including visiting those in hospitals, nursing homes or private residences, conducting worship services, greeting parishioners, and attending activities in the community. The dogs have been specifically trained to help ease ministerial counseling and promote congregational harmony. The presence of a friendly, soft, engaging animal often puts people at ease.
